Mark Your Calendar!

Robert Goulet

We'll miss you, Mr. Goulet.

Happy Halloween

I have always enjoyed halloween. Give me a wig and a moustache and I'm happy. A wig and a moustache can instantly change you into a different person which is why I get such a kick out of them. I snapped a photo of this guy Sven on the way to work this morning. He's so photogenic. What are you dressing up as for Halloween? Doing anything fun?

David Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants is currently working on an interesting documentary. I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

I just heard that a child playing with matches started the fires in CA. I think they are going to bring back a huge Smokey Bear campaign.

Well, I'm off to put on my moustache. Enjoy your Halloween..MWAHAHAHAHAAHAH

Oh My NOLA

As you know, this past weekend Elissa and I went to New Orleans to help celebrate the marriage of Liz and Brendan. It was an incredible affair and a weekend that will go down in history. If you haven't been to New Orleans, book a trip there...you won't be disappointed. You will fall in love with the city just as we did. There is something so magical about New Orleans, something one can't describe. You have to go experience it for yourself. The food, music, architecture, people, energy...everything is amazing. Does it seem like I had a good time? Well, I did. It was so great seeing Liz and Brendan so happy and in love. I can also now say that I second lined! I think we took over 300 photos while we were there and here are just a few that I selected to post.

Rainy Thursday

I've been trying to embed Boaz's interviews on this blog but it's not allowing me. So here's a link to his newly posted interview with Harry Shearer, a jack of all trades.

I just realized that it's almost November which means that a) Time to turn the clocks back and more importantly, b) it's almost National Novel Writing Month! That's right, time to put the pencil to the paper and start writing your novel. Go to the website and sign up. Boaz got me to try it last year and I kept it up for awhile but then fizzled out. Maybe I should try again this year?

This school in wakefield has banned Harry Potter books from its library because themes of witchcraft and sorcery were deemed innapropriate for a Catholic School. We all know however the real reason why the books were removed...Dumbledore's sexuality.

I never was able to get into Heroes when it started on NBC but I have been catching up by watching the episodes on DVD. They are quite good and I'm really enjoying watching them before I go to sleep. If you haven't seen them add them to your Netflix queue!

New Orleans Bound

Elissa and I are off to New Orleans on Friday morning and assuming there is no more rain in the forecast, it should be a good trip and the wedding will be a blast. I couldn't stop watching footage of the CA fires while I was at the gym last night. It's unbelievable. They had Maria Shriver on talking about the damage and while she spoke, all I could picture was Arnold in a tank top and a hose fighting the fires. Isn't that why they elected him? Mr. Last Action Hero. Let's pray that the fires will be put out soon.

I mentioned yesterday about the stinky Ginko trees. Well today on my way to work I noticed a group of Asian women collecting the fruit in bags. I wonder what they are going to do with all the Ginko?

You may notice that I sometimes come back to the topic of toilets on this blog. I apologize but I'm obsessed with toilets. The Japanese are at it again. This time, they have created a toilet for the car! That's right, no more peeing in bottles.

I drove the Lexus LS last night and I am in love. Want to buy me one? I thought you did.

Emptying Photos

Verizon is sending me a replacement phone so I wanted to empty some photos onto here to save them. You've seen a few of these but I don't believe you've seen the ones of the photo negatives Elissa found in a photo printer we bought at a garage sale. She started to pull out the negatives and they were of a bachelorette party. Naughty Naughty ladies.

It's wacky Tuesday

Do you know what these are photos of? If you've ever walked by Washington Square Park this time of year you will recognize the stinky smell of the Ginko Biloba fruit. It is an awful smell. The fruit drops off of the trees and is stepped on by anyone walking by. The smell permeates the air all around and it is nauseating.

From Wikipedia:

Female plants do not produce cones. Two ovules are formed at the end of a stalk, and after pollination, one or both develop into seeds. The seed is 1.5-2 cm long. Its fleshy outer layer (the sarcotesta) is light yellow-brown, soft, and fruit-like. It is attractive in appearance, but contains butanoic acid and smells like rancid butter (which contains the same chemical) or feces[citation needed] when fallen. Beneath the sarcotesta is the hard sclerotesta (what is normally known as the "shell" of the seed) and a papery endotesta, with the nucellus surrounding the female gametophyte at the center.[5]

As you probably know, Ginko is currently thought to prevent memory loss and help in the battle of Alzheimers...but don't get this seed on your shoe or you'll draw heads at the office.

I don't watch Dancing With The Stars but I did see in the news that Marie Osmond fainted on the show last night. Here's a link to the story where you can watch the clip of it. She claims she fainted because she forgot to breathe while she was dancing.

And now, Evan's clip o' the day:

I hope you had a great weekend. Yesterday, I participated in a walk for breast cancer with Elissa,Mr. Williams, and thousands of others. It was a beautiful day and for a great cause. We walked with Team Bungo and if you'd like to donate something, click here. You may have noticed the countdown to New Orleans in the top left hand corner. I am so looking forward to Liz's wedding and a trip down south to celebrate such an exciting occasion.

Here's something to have some fun with this Monday morning.

David Wain at it again

David Wain is currently in LA making another movie. (now's your chance to get an extra role, Boaz). You can read an interview with David here.

Did you see this:

That's right,

Feeling flush? For only $50,000 (£24,000) you could spend a night in this toilet-shaped house in South Korea.

Sanitation activist Sim Jae Duck will unveil his $1.8m (£880,000) new home in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province next month as part of his campaign for cleaner loos worldwide.

Billed as “the world’s one and only toilet house”, the steel and concrete building features three deluxe bathrooms plus a showcase loo that produces a mist to protect users’ modesty.

The world's only TOILET HOUSE!! I want to go! Nothing like loos that mist.

And while we're on the subject of cool toilets:

They're Grrrrrreat!

I forgot to mention that my grad school application has been turned in! That's right, sound the horns, light the sparklers, my application is in! Now it's just a matter of time before I find out the results. I'll be majoring in Entertainment Business!
I got an email yesterday from my friend Amanda who worked on the latest animations from JibJab. Check this out! You can enter your friends heads into the short. Here's one I did quickly but the mouth isn't right.

Here are some photos courtesy of Ben from our Saturday at Grrrrreat Adventure. The one of us soaking wet is after the oh-so-much-fun Log Flume.

Groupee Backstage Live

Many of my readers were huge Clips and Quips fans and are constantly asking what happened to Boaz???? Well, Boaz moved back West and is now involved with Groupee Backstage Live, where he continues to produce segments and interview today's hottest stars. Check it out! While I miss going on shoots with Boaz, I am glad that he is enjoying life in Seattle and getting paid for his talents.

Ma Spoon is tooo big

Fuerzabruta

Let's face it, a Saturday night isn't complete without a delicious dinner (and olive oil gelato) at Otto and then a trip to see Fuerzabruta, the new experience from the people who brought you De La Guarda. I encourage people to go see this show as it is definitely a unique experience. I don't want to give too much away but there is water involved, a DJ dressed like one of our founding fathers, and a lot of wind and stuff flying through the air. You stand the whole time so bring some comfortable shoes, and stay away from the middle of the room at the end of the show unless you want to get wet, and I mean soaking wet.

Elissa and I will be joining Team Bungo in New Jersey on Sunday, October 21 to walk for breast cancer. Please come out and join us and please click on this link to donate money.

Nob-Al Prize

Congratulations to Al Gore for winning a Nobel Peace Prize! That's quite an achievement and well deserved.

Did anyone see this naked "hipster" walking around times square yesterday? I knew someone would come along and try to steal the naked cowboy's thunder.

Ann Coulter is at it again and someone needs to silence this woman once and for all. This time she makes a comment on The Big Idea suggesting that the US would be a better place if there weren't Jews and that Jews need to perfect themselves. I'm glad Donny Deutsch gave it back to her, but they need to stop giving this woman publicity. Here's an excerpt taken from the transcript.

COULTER: The head of Iran is not a Christian.

DEUTSCH: No, but in fact, "Let's wipe Israel" --

COULTER: I don't know if you've been paying attention.

DEUTSCH: "Let's wipe Israel off the earth." I mean, what, no Jews?

COULTER: No, we think -- we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say.

DEUTSCH: Wow, you didn't really say that, did you?

COULTER: Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners --

DEUTSCH: In my old days, I would have argued -- when you say something absurd like that, there's no --

COULTER: What's absurd?

DEUTSCH: Jews are going to be perfected. I'm going to go off and try to perfect myself --

COULTER: Well, that's what the New Testament says.

DEUTSCH: Ann Coulter, author of If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans, and if Ann Coulter had any brains, she would not say Jews need to be perfected. I'm offended by that personally. And we'll have more Big Idea when we come back.

The Final Days

I've been digging up some of my favorite online clips. Here's another:

Who Would Buy That

In college, one of my favorite websites to peruse was Who Would Buy That.com. I revisited the site this morning to find that they have stopped posting items. People submitted very odd items up for auction on ebay and they would post them to this site with funny captions. I loved it and hope someone will bring it back.

I wasn't a huge fan of Michel Gondry's last film, The Science of Sleep, but his newest movie, Be Kind Rewind looks amazing. I can't wait to see this. Here's the trailer.

"48"

Forget "24", Kiefer Sutherland has been sentenced to 48 days in jail for his driving under the influence.

I'm a bit jolted after this morning's commute. I heard on the news before I left about an accident on Route 80 West. I decided to take the bus anyway because I figured the bus company communicated this problem to its drivers and the drivers would take another route. Well for some reason, my bus driver didn't get the message and he took us directly into the mess. We'd still be sitting there if he didn't cross the raised divider into the moving local lanes. This was after a passenger went up to ask him why he went this way when he knew damn well that there was a problem. Another reason why I dislike taking the bus in the morning.

Halloween is around the corner! I'm trying to decide on a costume...any suggestions? We turn our clocks back on November 4th so goodbye dark mornings hello early dark evenings.

Get Oddo My Office

In my opinion, the best new fall show is....

That's right! Pushing Daisies! If you missed the pilot episode, go to the link and watch it! It is by far the best thing I have seen in awhile. Barry Sonnenfeld directed the first three episodes which is one of the reasons I love this show so much. It is like candy for the eyes. So visually stunning and very funny. Here's a little taste:

Last night I also happened to catch Aliens In America on CW. I don't think I've ever watched a show on this channel, but my mom suggested I watch it as she heard a rave review on NPR. I must say it's really funny. The concept is hilarious and the kid who plays Raja is great. I encourage you to watch this show as well. Here's a blurb from the site about the show:

Justin Tolchuk (Dan Byrd) is a sensitive, lanky 16-year-old just trying to make it through the social nightmare of high school in Medora, Wisconsin, with the help of his well-meaning mom Franny (Amy Pietz), aspiring entrepeneur dad Gary (Scott Patterson) and his popular sister Claire (Lindsey Shaw), who is sweetly unaware of how good-looking she is. When Franny signs up for the school's international exchange student program, she pictures an athletic, brilliant Nordic teen who will bestow instant coolness on her outsider son.

However, when the Tolchuk's exchange student arrives, he turns out to be Raja Musharaff (Adhir Kalyan), a 16-year-old Pakistani Muslim. Despite the cultural chasm between them, Justin and Raja quickly develop an unlikely friendship that just might allow them to navigate the minefield that is contemporary high school. It's going to be a very interesting year for Raja, Justin, his family, and the entire population of Medora.

Birthday Celebrations

This past Saturday was Elissa's Mom's Birthday! There were many celebrations and a trip to Stony Brook to take Elissa's grandfather out for lunch to celebrate his 80th. The night concluded with a delicious meal at 44 Southwest and me singing Happy Birthday (probably will be on youtube soon thanks to Ben). It was a fun filled day for sure.

I got a call yesterday morning from Jon asking if I wanted to hang out with him while Justine and Abbey walked for diabetes. I quickly got dressed and drove to meet him at the County College of Morris where the walk was taking place. They brought along Meadow, their newly acquired beagle who draws much attention. Things qucikly progressed and Jon and I were suddenly taking part in the walk. I'm glad we did and we even got lunch! I encourage you to make your donation to fight diabetes. Click here to make your contribution now.

I have included some photos from the weekend below. Happy Columbus Day!

WARNING FOR IPOD USERS

Do you own an ipod? If so, click here! Don't let this happen to you.

Now that NBC's The Office is so popular, I wanted to re-post a clip of our interview with the cast. Boaz and I made a trip to LA and before the pilot aired, got to interview the main players minus Steve Carrell. Check out this classic Clips & Quips moment.

Escalatoraphobia

As children, some of us had fears and we still do. Spiders, snakes, airplanes, elevators...even escalators. Many people still have a fear of stepping onto an escalator. Either that, or they don't know how to step properly. Wait for it, wait, wait...go,go,go. I saw someone like this today at Port Authority. I felt bad. I felt like helping them onto my step with me.

Six months have sure flown by. Elissa and I are celebrating 6 wonderful months together today. So send your flowers, your cards and your money.

By the way, these are brilliant...wow

Something Falling through the sky

I took the above photo with my phone on our way to Sussex County to pick apples on Sunday. It appeared as though something fell through the sky. You can see a streak that goes right to the ground. I should have forgot about the apple picking and followed the trail. Maybe it was a superhero being sent to earth in a pod. Damn.

Extra Extra!

Charlie Rose

I was standing next to Charlie Rose this afternoon in the Union Square Virgin Megastore. The last time I ran into Mr. Rose was at the now extinct Tower near NYU. He was looking through the dvds alongside me. I'm a huge fan of his interviewing style and I almost said something but kept quiet. Noone else seemed to have any idea who he was. Oh well, if you're reading, hi Charlie!

The Darjeeling Limited

I'm very much looking forward to seeing Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited. I am not only a huge fan of his movies but of the soundtracks to his movies. I highly recommend this one as well.

Short post today! Lots to do!

Saturday was indeed, a great adventure.

It's monday and you know what that means, Evan's weekend report. As many of you know I grew up in New Jersey, so one would assume I've been to Great Adventure before. Well I haven't, until now. Elissa and Ben took their dad this weekend and I was invited along. Now I haven't been on a roller coaster since middle school and I'm not the biggest fan so it was ironic that the first ride I was getting on was the tallest and the fastest, Kingda Ka. It sure jolted me especially since I was forced to sit in the front row. Here's exactly what it felt like.

The fierce Kingda Ka is simply the tallest, fastest roller coaster on earth. This remarkable thrill ride breaks all world records for coaster speed and height, zooming from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and catapulting you 45 stories into the sky.

Get propelled horizontally at 128 mph via hydraulic launch
Hang on tight as you shoot 90 degrees into a quarter-turn
Blast 456 feet high, then plunge vertically into a 270-degree spiral
Experience weightlessness as you swoop down a valley and up a 129-foot camel hump

I must say that I had fun despite my headache after going on about 6 of the coasters. I enjoyed the Superman ride the most. I also had a great time on the log flume, which got all of us soaking wet. We later found out that besides the five of us weighing down our log, people were paying quarters to squirt us at the end. In addition to the rides we saw tigers and a beaver!

Yesterday we went apple picking with Heather, Andrew, Mark and Meredith. It was great fun and we came back for a delicious meal that Heather had prepared. We even had pumpkin pie and cider doughnuts!

I don't know if you know this, but Adam was my inspiration for starting this blog. Last week he announced that his blog was ending for now and his readers will definitely miss his entries. I encourage you to go to his blog and read his past entries. There's some really good stuff there.
