A Remake To Make

So after reading this article, I've decided that someone needs to remake the movie Mannequin which was a remake of One Touch of Venus. The story of a man who falls in love with a mannequin that comes to life...it's the perfect story. The casting possibilities are endless just as long as Eddie Murphy isn't playing all of the characters.

I'm still trying to find a shark week taxi cab!

I've been watching The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch recently and am determined to come up with an invention that will make me millions. If you want to come up with a product together, let me know because now I know how to market it and get the product out there. I have some ideas up my sleeves.

Doctor Jones

I have been meaning to post this panel with Steve and Harry from Comic Con. Enjoy!

Happy Shark Week

That's right. This week is Shark Week on the Dicovery Channel for all of you shark fans. I thought I heard on the radio this morning that if you get into a cab in NYC with a shark week ad on it, the ride is free! I saw one of these cabs this morning but there was someone in it. Has anyone else heard about this?

This past weekend I made the journey to Providence, RI to see my sister in two shows. She blew everyone away with her one woman show. I took the train back on Saturday and had a nice dinner with Jon and Justine and met Meadow! She's the cutest beagle in Cliffside Park. I really want to get a dog but can't do it at the moment. I could however do this. I think they should have named it Petflix.

Have you seen this guy? I think that's the cuecard guy from the Tonight Show.

AND NOW....a new Evan Almighty Feature....

NETFLIX: TO QUEUE OR NOT TO QUEUE

1) Freaks and Geeks- I never really watched this show when it was on tv but was encouraged to watch it. It's great and you should definitely add this to your queue.

2) The Last Mimzy- Kids movie? Yes, but I thoroughly enjoyed this flick and would recommend it. The kids are cute and the concept is neat and it has Rainn Wilson! How bad could it be?

3) Shooter- Don't bother to waste your time with this movie.

4) Perfume- Based on the amazing novel by Patrick Suskind, I haven't finished this one yet, but so far it is very very good. Definitely one for your queue.

Rubiks Cube Rocks

My lack of posting lately is due to my trying to finish Harry Potter. I'm almost there but finding time to read has been difficult lately. If you don't know who Michel Gondry is, go rent Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. You can also see The Science of Sleep or just wait for his much anticipated Be Kind Rewind. In this video, Michel masters the Rubiks cube with...his nose. How dooooeeees he do it?

Thriller

Who says Michael Jackson hasn't had an influence on inmates? The next time I need something choreographed, I'm calling the man/woman who did this.

Lazy Blog

I will admit that I have been neglecting this blog lately as I have been very busy at work moving into a new office and trying to get settled. Elissa and I went to check out a Harry Potter midnight party at a local Barnes and Noble on Friday night and it was quite the scene. I took some photos which I will post if I have a minute. There were so many people there, the fire marshall was by the door monitoring people coming in and out. We had to wait until people came out before we got through the door. It was packed with children and adults many of whom were dressed up and anxiously awaiting midnight. We didn't stay long...we escaped out the door just as the countdown began and everyone was cheering. I hope noone was injured.

I got the book delivered to me via a white owl I named Amazon. Elissa and I are now reading it together but she will most likely finish it first. Saturday and Sunday we were able to relax which was much needed.

It's a rainy Monday and I hope you had a great weekend!

NBC should think about giving Jay Leno a cooking show where he travels the roads in his different cars collecting the freshest and wildest of ingredients.

Another photo of meadow

Meadow in the house.

Meadow Jannucci

Meadow Jannucci

J&J got a puppy and her name is Meadow. She's a Beagle and I can't wait to meet her. Speaking of Beagles...who's excited for Underdog?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

We all knew that someone would get a hold of the last Harry Potter book and somehow leak it onto the internet. I'd like to have the kind of free time that this person has, being able to photograph pages from the book and post them on the internet. Could be a kid, could be an adult, maybe even a monkey. I'm sure they'll find them and execute them, charging them of Potterthievery??!!?? I didn't know this, but apparently in 2002, an entirely fake Potter book, entitled "Harry Potter and Leopard Walk Up To Dragon", appeared in China. Now that's a book I want to read.

It's another year at Hogwarts and the entire gang is back. Harry is struggling with his voice change and hair that is still growing in unexpected places. Ron is very attracted to Hermione and Hermione is noticing that she finds herself attracted to the other girls. The ending of the book is filled with horror and drama as Harry, and his new spotted owl, Leopard...walk up to Dragon and... okay, okay...I just did a post on Harry Potter because I wanted to drive up the number of hits to this blog, I apologize.

Here are some photos of Melissa and Andrew's new family member, Arthur, proving once again that kittens and rabbits can live together and be happy:

Paaaak the caaaa

Honey, paaak the caaaa, we're goin ta see jaaaaas.

Happy Tuesday! I think you'll enjoy this story about a man who can be seen snoozing in the background during a Good Morning America Town Hall segment with John Edwards. The man can be seen sleeping behind Senator Edwards but soon after it appears as though they moved the guy out of the shot. The video is short so that you won't fall asleep either.

Good Morning Baltimore!

Well it's actually the afternoon and I'm blogging during my lunch hour rather than before work. This weekend, Elissa and I went to Baltimore to visit her good friend Melissa and her husband Andrew. They were extremely gracious and allowed us to stay with them over the weekend. Even more exciting is the news that I got a new bluetooth..okay, that's not true and is an inside joke so please ignore the last line.

When we arrived on Friday we went to the Inner Harbor where we had a bite to eat and walked around to see what was happening. I was dying to go to the Aquarium but due to our timing, we would have had to rush through it and for a $22 admission ticket, we wanted to take our time admiring the fishes and speaking with the dolphins. Guess we'll be making another trip back in the near future. We spent Saturday with Melissa and Andrew and were on our way home Sunday morning. Last night, Elissa's parents had a really nice party to celebrate two birthdays and a 2nd Wedding Anniversary. The food was superb and I had a great time.

Magnolia Bakery Closed by Department of Health

BREAKING NEWS

Magnolia Bakery Closed by Department of health.

According to eater.com:

A little more than one hour ago, the Department of Health shut down Magnolia Bakery, perhaps the most popular bakery in New York, a place where the waits for cupcakes are rarely less than 30 minutes, and site of the now famous Lazy Sunday video. According to the nice employee who has been stationed to inform cupcake hopefuls of the bad news, the recent change of ownership at Magnolia triggered an automatic visit from the Department of Health, who discovered one sink too few at the bakery, where, apparently, a minimum of two sinks are required. "It's not rats," she assured the Eater field agents on the scene. Work to remedy the situation is already in progress, we're told, and the bakery expects to reopen on Friday at the earliest. We are awaiting an official statement from Magnolia Bakery PR.

Where are we to go for a sugar fix? I thought the chocolate sprinkles on the cupcake I bought the other day tasted funny. Wait a minute...

Oregon's own Danny Deckchair

I never saw the 2003 movie Danny Deckchair , but I know that the plot involved a guy (named Danny perhaps?) who lifts off the ground in a chair tied with yellow balloons. Oregon has their own Danny Deckchair, except his name isn't Danny, it's Ken Couch.

With instruments to measure his altitude and speed, a global positioning system device in his pocket, and about four plastic bags holding five gallons of water each to act as ballast -- he could turn a spigot, release water and rise -- Couch headed into the Oregon sky.

Nearly nine hours later, the 47-year-old gas station owner came back to earth in a farmer's field near Union, short of Idaho but about 193 miles from home.

Impressive! Perhaps Mr. Couch should change his last name to Chair? Boaz always says that Oregon has everything, and I guess now I can't argue with him.

TRain trouble

I'm still sitting on the train for what has felt like an eternity. At least my car is air conditioned. The ac is broken in some of the other cars. I can try going back to sleep or i can blog. I could really go for a piece of fruit right about now. Okay. I can't stand typing on this tiny keyboard.
I'm sitting in the train and i just saw elvis again. I'm not taking a photo this time. My train is delayed once again.

Big Dog

Now that's a big dog. He's taller than me on his hind legs, 6ft 5inches to be exact. I wouldn't want to clean up after him, that's for sure.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Unlike the Phoenix, the latest installment of the Harry Potter Films burns itself on a funeral pyre but never fully rises from its ashes. All of the characters are back, many of whom have and still are battling puberty and there's plenty of magic, action, and dementors...scary dementors. I enjoyed the film, but director David Yates left me unsatisfied. Mr. Yates enjoys placing flying aerial shots of the landscapes and of Hogwarts, but doesn't offer much beyond that. All of the sets are spectacular, my favorite being the Room of Requirement. One of the set issues that greatly bothered me was the Hall of Prophecy. It looks ridiculously fake because it was shot against a green screen and is "the first-ever completely computer-generated set in a Harry Potter film".

In addition to some great sets and special effects, the actors are what make the movie. Imelda Staunton is brilliant as Professor Dolores Umbridge. I liked the movie much more because of her performance. Gary Oldman, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Brendan Gleeson, Richard Griffiths, Alan Rickman...they all give their usual outstanding performances. Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna Lovegood, makes her acting debut. She attended an open casting call for this role and was chosen out of 15,000 girls, to play this role. I just want to know if that's her real voice. I hope so.

I also must mention that I really miss John Williams in the last two films. His music brought much more character and feeling to these movies. Come back John, we miss you.

The weekend was filled with fireworks and movies! Friday night I went with Elissa, her parents, and their friends to see the fireworks that were postponed on July 4th due to the rain. The fireworks were really amazing. 25 minutes of pure joy but perhaps not for those people who got hit on the head by falling hot ash. Yesterday we went to see more fireworks and also to see the new Pixar hit, Ratatouille.

I went into Ratatouille with low expectations, even though I had heard some good things from some friends. When I go to these computer animated movies now, I expect seeing funny talking animals (voiced by today's hottest celebs) who escape their habitat and venture into the world to interact with humans. Ratatouille is just that, but the brilliant Brad Bird and the folks at Pixar turn the story into something much more than animals exploring the outside world. They also do a brilliant job casting actors for the voices. While we may recognize some of the voices, they are classy in the way they cast. We never hear Bruce Willis or Robin Williams in these movies, never Nicole Kidman or Madonna and that's a great thing.

The cooking aspect of this film really appealed to me. I love to cook and there are a few cooking scenes that are brilliant. I stronly encourage you to check out this movie and in Pixar fashion, there is a really cute short preceeding the film.
i'm currently stuck on the train due to a stalled Amtrak train. thanks a lot amtrak.

JK Rowling Cries

I'm very happy for JK Rowling. She turned her life upside down and created an amazing world for readers of all ages to enjoy. Hey, I've already pre-ordered the book and am seeing the movie on Monday night. Understandably, JK is emotionally attached to the characters she has brought to life and here's what she had to say to BBC's Jonathan Ross about finishing the final book:

"I was in a hotel room on my own, I was sobbing my heart out, I downed half a bottle of champagne from the mini-bar in one and went home with mascara all over my face, that was really tough"

I have a feeling JK isn't crying now as "Deathly Hallows" is Amazon's most pre-ordered product, with almost 1.6 million copies bought globally ahead of the book's release on July 21. That's incredible. I wonder what she is going to do now? Disneyland? Maybe she'll team up with India's own Harry Potter and create more magic.

July 4th week

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Joel Siegel, well known movie critic. Boaz and I had a few run-ins with Mr. Siegel at press screenings and premieres and he always seemed like such a nice man. We will miss him.

This weekend, the "Elissa Birthday Celebration" continued. Friday night we went for dinner at Garlic Rose, where garlic somehow makes it's way into every dish on the menu. Instead of a lemon wedge in the water, they give you a piece of garlic..okay, that's not true, but a lot of garlic is consumed when you eat at this place so beware. Saturday morning we were up early for garage sales...we ended up not buying much but I did find some excellent cookbooks. After hitting up these sales we were on our way to Ikea to find Elissa a table and chairs. On our way there, Elissa gave me a tour of Elizabeth and Newark. A table and set of chairs were purchased and assembled back at Elissa's apartment just in time for the birthday party! I made a potent Sangria and Elissa made a delicious 7 layer dip. I also picked up the most delicious ice cream cake from McCools. Everyone had a great time and the weather could not have been more beautiful. I'm looking forward to July 4th!!!

I am still hoping to see someone on the street or train using an iphone. I thought I would have seen someone with one by now. When I do see someone using one, I'll snap a photo of them with my phone and post it to the blog. Anything else you want to see? Let me know!

Good morning blog readers. Trying to take advantage of cell phone blogging.
